EMC filters are utilized in single and three phase powered electronic and electrical systems to reflect generated noise back to its source. The two types of noise an EMC filter is designed to reflect are common mode noise and differential mode noise.
EMC filters are a combination of capacitors to oppose AC flow at low frequency, inductors to react against current change and oppose AC flow at high frequencies and resistors to discharge the capacitors when the supply is disconnected. A metal enclosure is normally used to house these components and to provide an effective and stable earth ground.
